About Sahyogi

Sahyogi is a non-political, non-religious, and not-for-profit organization, formally registered under the Society Registration Act (21 of 1860) in February 2008 in Bihar. Sahyogi is duly registered under the Income Tax Act for tax exemptions under Sections 12AB and 80G, and is also registered under the FCRA and CSR provisions. The organization adheres to all statutory requirements and complies fully with the laws of the land.

For over a decade, Sahyogi has been working at the grassroots to nurture a just and equitable society — one where women, men, adolescent girls, and boys live with dignity, exercise their rights, and actively participate in decisions that shape their lives, free from discrimination and violence.

Over the years, Sahyogi has evolved into a community-driven, gender resource organization, rooted in the belief that real and lasting change begins at the local level. We work closely with both urban and rural communities, Panchayati Raj Institutions, youth collectives, frontline workers, and local governance structures to challenge harmful gender norms, prevent violence, and strengthen leadership among women and young people.

Our work focuses on building social capital, fostering collective consciousness, and driving collective action — empowering individuals and groups to not only identify inequality but to confront and transform it, within families, institutions, and the broader community.

Our Vision

Sahyogi envisions an inclusive world where every person — irrespective of gender, background, or identity — has the power to thrive, lead, and shape lasting social change.

Mission Statement

To advance gender equality and justice by enabling marginalized communities to drive inclusive and sustainable social transformation.

Goal of the organization

The overarching goal of Sahyogi is to strengthen collaboration among government institutions, Panchayats, community leaders, frontline functionaries, and local stakeholders to shape and implement gender-sensitive policies and programs that are rooted in community participation and ownership.

Approach

Sahyogi adopts a community-driven and evidence-based approach to advance gender equality and social justice. We invest in building social capital and local leadership, empowering communities to design and drive their own solutions. Our work focuses on nurturing community innovators and positive deviants, strengthening the capacities of Panchayat leaders and frontline workers, and fostering inclusive governance. Through behavioral change communication, participatory learning, and innovative tools, Sahyogi transforms awareness into action — enabling individuals, institutions, and systems to challenge inequality and sustain long-term social change.
